There are 53,420 children living with Foster Families on 31st March 2017

The Fostering Network estimates that  6,800 foster families are needed in the next 12 months in order to ensure all fostered children can live with the right family for them.

This is nearly four-fifths (78%) of the 68,300 children in care looked after away from home.

There are around 43,710 foster families in England.

The Fostering Network estimates that fostering services need to recruit a further 6,800 foster families in the next 12 months

Therapeutic Foster care provides children with a safe, secure and nurturing family environment.

With record numbers of children in care in 2017 and more than 12% of the foster carer workforce retiring or leaving every year, there is a real need to recruit carers to provide children and young people with safe and secure homes where they can flourish and enjoy their childhood.

Without enough foster families willing and able to offer homes to these groups, some children will find themselves living a long way from family, school and friends or being separated  from brothers and sisters.
